Great diving beetle
Great diving beetle
This species occurs in various types of water bodies with stagnant or slow-flowing water, where there are many food objects – small water insects, fish and frogs. The shape of the body is elongated, which allows easy movement in the water. Beetles have vigorous forefeet and strong jaws for catching game. Great diving beetles fly well, but they do it infrequently, mainly when environmental conditions in a body of water become unsuitable for survival.
